Our 40th reunion has been scheduled for August 11th, 2012  from 7-10 pm at Timothy’s in Newark. The menu will be a buffet and there will be a cash bar. The ticket cost will be $30.  There will be the usual Deer Park gathering the evening prior.  Please make a commitment to be there!

It was a small, but lively group at the Newark Country Club.  We had lots of appetizers, followed by a lovely meal and fantabulous desserts.  And then there was LOTS of dancing and catching up.  See some pictures of Friday’s event here.

Saturday evening brought many of us back to the Deer Park and we were joined by a few who couldn’t make dinner the previous night.  When the band started up around 9:30, some of us headed to the Iron Hill Brewery, and before you knew it, there were 25 of us either having a drink, a late dinner, or just dessert.  They finally had to throw us out!

Well, rezzies are now closed and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Newark Country Club in 10 days!!  That’s assuming Northwest Airlines doesn’t cancel my flight, too.

If you haven’t sent your bio for the directory, please do so.  The directory will be e-mailed in electronic format (a .pdf file) this year so you can send your bio any time before August 15 (which is when I will be back from Newark to put the finishing touches on it).  If you need a printed copy and you’re NOT attending the reunion in person, the cost will be $10 for printing and postage.  E-mail me for more info or to request a copy.

This is the "last call" for the reunion.  There will be a sit-down dinner at the Newark Country Club on Friday, August 10 at 7:00.  This will include an open bar for beer, wine and soft drinks (mixed drinks will cost), salad, an entree with two sides, dessert and coffee.  If you plan on coming to Friday's dinner, please get your paid reservation to Helen Spence, 6207 Gooding Pond Court, Burke, VA  NO LATER THAN July 31.  Along with your reservation, please indicate your choice of entree - Prime Rib, Chicken Marsala, or Pasta Primavera (vegetarian).  Make checks for $60.00 payable to Helen Spence, with "NHS Class of ''72" on the memo line.

On Saturday, August 11 there will be an informal gathering at the Deer Park.  If you choose to, you may dine there, or join us later for some drinks and gab.  The live band begins playing at 9:00, if that makes any difference to anyone.

And remember to e-mail your information to webmistress@nhsclassof1972.com to be included in the class directory.

Oh, and quit e-mailing to ask how many alumnus are coming to the reunion -- you’ll have to show up to find out!

We need 60 paid reservations in hand by July 1 in order to proceed with the reunion at the Newark Country Club on 8/10.  As of today we have 24.  If you are coming, please send your reservation to Helen Spence immediately at 6207 Gooding Pond Court, Burke, VA  22015.  We’d sure like to see you!

Helen tells me it will be a pretty cozy reunion with only 8 of us showing up (and one of those is a spouse)!  Please send your $60/person reservation to Helen immediately so we can continue making plans for this event.  Without any money, it’s impossible to hire music or pay for printing, etc. Please make your checks payable to Helen Spence and send them directly to her at 6207 Gooding Pond Court, Burke, VA 22015.  Be sure to write “NHS Class of ‘72” on the memo line.

Put Friday, August 10, 2007 on your calendar for our 35 year reunion.  This year it will be at the Newark Country Club from 7pm to 11pm.  The $60/person admission includes dinner, bar (for wine, beer and soda -- mixed drinks are on your own) and a DJ.  Helen King Spence kindly paid the deposit out of her own personal funds because our treasury is so low, so if you know now that you will attend, please make your checks payable to Helen Spence and send them directly to her at 6207 Gooding Pond Court, Burke, VA 22015.  Be sure to write “NHS Class of ‘72” on the memo line.

We have reserved a block of 25 to 30 rooms for August 10 - 12, 2007 at the Courtyard by Marriott. Prices will be $119.00 (instead of $149.00) for a single and $15.00 for each additional person. A KING SUITE, usually $339.00 per night, will be $199.00. All of this is plus tax (8%). We need to fill 80% of those rooms (20 to 22 rooms) to maintain that rate.

Reservations may be made at (800) 321-2211 or (302) 737-0900. Tell them you are with the Newark High School Class of 1972, so you get the correct rate. Reservations must be made on or before Tuesday, July 10, 2007.
